Let her go...
Wow. I mean, straight out the gate, Zach Santos pulls us in with a gutty guitar intro, accompanied by a steady percussion backing. it's just enough to get your head nodding, and perfectly sets the tone, letting you know there's more to come. It's subtle, but a phenomenal display of musicianship and song structure. Once we get a crash of the cymbal, Santos' soulful vocals enter the track.
Once Santos makes his way onto the record. he builds on what the percussion and guitar have already created for us. "Life does change/ People don’t stay the same/
No they don’t (no they don’t)/ Maybe someday we could try to talk/ To try and just move on/ Cause I’m still feeling lost," Santos sings. One of the draws of Santos' vocal abilities is his ability to deliver so much credence and relatability in his approach. There isn't any ounce of forcing or faking it. That's how you get lost in a piece like "People Change" without even realizing it.
