Music can be created in so many ways. Whether it be tapping on a table, whistling, or a full orchestral presentation, music is diverse and used in both literal and metaphorical arenas. In 2007, we were introduced to the Wii, a motion game that was a groundbreaking step in what we now know as virtual reality. The Wii had such a differing sound from other games upon its release and it was incredible. x7judy, real name Josh Judy, has a very minimalistic approach to his production that made nostalgic of the old wii games I played in my youth.
On his latest ep, 7 City, Judy uses synth and other elements of the electronic genre to present us with an ethereal sound that is akin to that of an abstract sci-fi game. x7judy has plans of releasing more layered music in the future as this project was mostly to show his versatility using minimal aspects.
There's a beauty in minimalism, and in the right moments, we can greatly appreciate that. This may even take you back to some good times in your childhood. I know it did for me.
