Jane McNealy- One Day at a Time
What a great groove this record has. The musical motif is so very catchy. The bass line isn't just playing for you, it's riding with you... Even "out of season" this song is a great listen. The jazzy musicianship is on such an incredibly high level. As it appears, not one single not is missed here. If there was, it was masked with beauty. Enjoy
The Altons- Where Did She Go?
Am I watching a film that takes place in the early 1960s? That's the aura I'm put in while I'm listening to this record by The Altons. The singing is pure, and the instrumentation is quite minimal. if you give this song a listen you'll know what I mean. And look precisely at what I said- a movie that TAKES PLACE in the 1960s, not filmed in the 1960s. Give it a listen
Sam Hudgens- baby blue
One of the most authentic soul record I've heard in a while. Hudgens doesn't try to "over perform" or do too much in his delivery. He is as cool and collected as any artist who has complete demand over their art. The drums are tatting away with ease and allow for the listener to sit back and follow the sonic environment being established. What a solid display of artistry on "baby blue". Take a spin
