TRACKS FOR THE MAX, Curated by Imani Wj Wright [Ep28]

Mark Evich- Rendez-Vous

Rendezvous is one of my all-time favorite words. I can tell you exactly what I was doing and where I was when I first heard the word. I was home, around 7-8 years old, playing James Bond 007: Nightfire on my Nintendo Gamecube. I asked my parents what the word meant- and ever since then, I always light up when I see/hear it. Mark Evich, who is one of the most talented people I've ever had the chance to meet, gives us a jazzy, sultry, and mature sounding record with Rendez-Vous. Taking the Organized Noize approach, Evich uses all live instruments and delivers a record worth every listen. Give it a spin

VeeAlwaysHere- USED TO

I wouldn't be nearly where I a, today if I didn't speak transparently about these the music I review. So let me start by saying this. I'll be honest, during the first listen of this, initially was going to pass up on writing about this. But then I gave it a second listen and asked myself: 'Damn. What the hell were you thinking?" This record has a good late 90 / early 2000s RnB slickness to it. The rhythms hit just right in the pockets that are built to get your night started off on a smooth note. The opening moments kind of gives sped up Ginuwine vibes. As "USED TO" progresses, you start to feel more of a pop-atmpshere. Honestly, it's different than a lot of joints I've heard this year. Check it out for yourself

kieramari- kryptonite

Stop it! Don't tell kieramari that it's over. Maybe you think it is, but it's not. You know why superman? SHE'S YOUR KRYPTONITE. Sing it sis! There's a lot of soul on this record, and it's spicy. It has the kind of sound that makes you feel a little extra confident. It'll have you walking in the room with an extra boost of swagger that you didn't know you had. [K]ieramari may stay on your playlist for the foreseeable future. She's got it like that. Check her out
