TRACKS FOR THE MAX, Curated by Imani Wj Wright [Ep27]

Ghetto Homechild- RUBY SPARKS

The bass line on this record with the smooth, kind of scatty vocal intro reminded of pieces you'd hear from iconic soul artists like D'Angelo or Bilal. Homechild's singing is chill in tone, but bright in timbre. The song feels sunny. It brings light to your day, but is also funky enough to rock out with at night. Check it out

Omer Leshem- Take an Advil

This piece may cure some of your emotional pains. Omar Leshem's "Take an Advil" sounds like something you'd hear come straight out of the movie Whiplash (Haha, sorry for all of the contradictory puns). The composition is fast paced, full of syncopated rhythms, and every instrument sounds like its played by a master of its craft. From the keys, horn, drums, it's all there baby. Listen to what some may consider a masterpiece

AKA Block- Ring Around Her Finger

Understand something. This was NEVER about love. This is one of the best written songs I've listened to in a while. There's a double entendre with the "ring" on this record. Block may be in the middle of an affair with a married woman, but the more you listen with active ears, you hear Block's bad fortune of being in a cycle many of us fall into- falling in love with those who are not in the space to love us on the same level, or at all for that matter. This track is put together so well. Enjoy
