SWANO's 10 [Volume 4]- Explained

Written by Imani Wj Wright

Language and communication go hand-in-hand. They're two major components of what keep us connected as human beings. Bed time stories, long talks on the phone, and the words of James Baldwin are some of the keys to my maturation.

For me, nothing can compare to the impact of literature. Generations have been defined by brilliantly written speeches- Frederick Douglas, JFK, MLK... The power of the tongue, or better yet, the power of the pen Is unmatched.

Songs like Red Eyes by David Kingston, and Southern Comfort by Zac Pajak give us glances into the artists' personal admirations and affections. While pieces such as Kane Miller's, Never Coming Back, and Cindy Zhang's, Coffee, express the dreaded feelings of loss and seperation.

On SWANO's 10 [Volume 4] we focus on the storytellers, the raconteurs, the narrators... Enjoy the detailed and vulnerable songwriting, there's plenty of it this week.
