Curated by Sytcr
Here at SwanoDown, we listen to a ton of music on a DAILY basis. And during these days, of course, there are standout tracks. Below you'll find the 10 compositions we feel you should check out tonight, (or soon). We find these artists to be the most cutting-edge. And oh yeah, this is in no particular order... You decide!
Compositionally elevated songs by artists like Gimme Gimme, Lauryn Perkins, and MIXIE, are all featured today.

Gimme Gimme - Day Drinking

A groovy track that’s incredibly reminiscent of the song “Daydreams” by Easy Life in its chorus! This song executes a minimalistic sound while still feeling incredibly full of life and color. The singing duo displayed excellent chemistry throughout this piece and gave us a very pleasant performance.

Bad Flamingo - Rolling Around in it

This track combines feelings of blues, jazz, and soft alternative rock to give us the wonderful piece that is “Rolling Around in it”. The instrumentation on this record was perfect, giving us a simple guitar and piano melody to start, and opening up with violins in its chorus. The singer displays a high level of charisma in her approach vocally and makes the track feel more dynamic in its own right.

BAR - Fiction

BAR contributes a wonderful performance to an incredibly ambient and chill record. The guitar and synth melodies combined with light percussion and excellent vocals creates a track that has a very smooth listening experience.

MIXIE - Sideways

A sample of Frank Ocean’s hit song “Lost” is an incredible start to pull an audience in. The moment I heard the iconic drum break on this song, I knew that this track was going to be special. MIXIE does a tremendous job in this song with an incredibly catchy approach to the chorus. This truly does what a sample should do and brings a new perspective to the finished product.

Stefan Mahendra and Fika – Orbit

Orbit is such a smooth record. The vocals and harmonies featured feel transcendent... The overall performance was also done extremely well with a perfect amount of emotion intertwined with it.

Lauryn Perkins - Reality

Lauryn Perkins delivers an incredible vocal performance, reminiscent of some of Jill Scott’s earlier work. The melody on this one is very distinctive, and it sounds like Lauryn is having a lot of fun singing this piece.

Salma e Mac - Marquinha

'Marquinha' is an incredibly relaxing track to listen to. This piece emanates a peaceful atmosphere with beautiful vocals and smooth guitar melodies.

The Degrees - Nothing Else

A classic R&B performance that sounds radio ready! The vocals on this record combined with its bass line makes this one such a groovy track to listen to.

Sara Diamond - Not All Fun is Forever

This track displays a tremendous vocal performance, and lyrics that really caught my attention. "Not All Fun is Forever" doesn’t feel like every other breakup song, and really focuses on acceptance rather than the other methods of grief.

Hot
Mustard - Naked When You Come

This track conveys such an intriguing almost indescribable feeling within it. It’s very easy to visualize an entire world and get lost in this record’s recurring synth melody.
