Lawson J (SwanoDown Report)

Reported by Imani Wj Wright

Music is the form of art with most replay value.

Now, I know that it is a subjective take, and can be refuted, but let's think about it for a moment. Do you ever watch the same movie 20-30 times a week? Do you go to museums 50 times a month to view a painting? If you do, then congrats, you're a special human being. However, if you are like most of us, you probably don't do any of the aforementioned. Though, do you know what is quite common? Playing a song continuously, over and over again without hesitation or boredom. Especially if the song is catchy- you'll have people hooked.

So, when I listen to Stay Together, by Lawson J, the first thing that caught my attention was the absolutely ear-grasping tone that he encompasses. His voice is tranquil, melodically fluid, and inviting. He puts you in a space that lifts your spirits and gives you hope. This is no exaggeration. Even though this piece can make you pensive, your body will grasp the rhythm. That's another thing that is impressive about Lawson. He juxtaposes an up-tempo, percussion-heavy track, with his converse vocal style.

This guy is a pleasure to listen to.

Potential applicants are initially encouraged to make sure they consider any and all reviews that are available to them.
