A record that puts me in an early 2000s film:
Mikey Demilio- 2 Dead In New Brunswick
If you've every watched a film from the early 2000s, you know exactly why I say I feel the way I do. This record has all the makings of that time period. An ever so slight Emo-esque guitar, vocals that sound anti-establishment, and a pace that'll get you through the opening scenes of a classic. Turn on something circa 1999-2004, play it on silent, then turn this on in the background. You see what I mean?
A record that makes me want to dance by myself with the light off:
Pale Grey- Syd
The stars are out (literally), it's around 10 or 11pm, and you just want to feel the world and all its beauty by yourself. You know what sound is would be great to accompany you through that musical journey? Syd's "Pale Grey". It's airy sound mixed with a confident, unique vocal make for the perfect scene for your soul to set itself free. Enjoy the magic
A track that'll have your head spinnin:
Mario'n- Cloud 9
Have you ever been a couple drinks deep into a long night? There are times where you just get caught in this daze of dancing and letting yourself be completely hypnotized by the music. "Cloud 9" is a top tier candidate to capture you in that drift. Everything about this record is party and live. "Not worried bout a thing."
Something that makes you reflect with a smile on your face:
Julia Logan- Thrown Down
Logan may mention "feeling like a stranger" on this piece. But understand this, "Thrown Down" is a song of triumph, a song of hope. a song of tomorrow. Not only does Julia Logan give us a great sonic sound, but she also delivers a much needed message of striving. You can hear her authenticity shine through your speakers and give you that extra beam of hope you may not have known you needed.
I listened to this track out of season to see how good it REALLY was:
Nick Stefanacci- Christmas Eve (instrumental)
Yes, I know what the date is. And that's precisely why I'm listening to it now! Nick, you outdid yourself with this one! Regardless of the time of year, this record is a great display of jazz, coolness, and musicianship. You don't need "holiday cheer" to let this piece bring you to life!
