Simply Cannot Get Enough: Prince Lucas- Can't Get Enough [Video Critique]

Critiqued by Lukey Lenz

Something like this song’s title, we simply cannot get enough of Prince Lucas’ Can’t Get Enough.

Along with a stellar vocal track, 'Can’t Get Enough' has a visualizer that serves as a video. Shot in a 16:9 aspect ratio, we follow Prince Lucas in a private space, reminiscing on a woman he’s encountered. The environment has a retro feel, filled with art and plant life. There are a few dominant colors seen through the visualizer and they are tan/gold, green, red, and white. Viewers can see these colors in the curtains (gold), the walls themselves (white and tan), the plants (green), the table decorations (multicolored), and the table (white). The paintings in the video feature much of this color, heterogeneously mixing all the colors and Prince Lucas himself is sporting a mix of reds and browns.

Throughout the video, Lucas looks disconcerted as he closes his eyes and rests his head on the table while he vocalizes, thinking about the perfect one. Although he feels this way, it’s apparent he thinks he has another chance to get to her boasting several smiles and singing about what he would do with her given he has another chance.

The track itself is fun, having a strong Afro-centric sound along with beautiful vocals by Lucas himself. Can’t Get Enough will be a noteworthy addition to your summer playlist and the video will be a nice memento to visit when you want to study outstanding examples of how to use color in visual media.
