Kabusa Oriental Choir [Video Critique]

Critiqued by Lukey Lenz

Welcome to the colorful and well-choreographed world of the Kabusa Oriental Choir. This time around, they are covering a song by the same name, "Soweto". Victony, Rema, Tempoe, and Don Toliver set the tone but Kabusa picks it up and spins it with their video.

The setting for the "Soweto" video is one of the most unique settings I’ve ever seen for a visual. The Kabusa Oriental Choir is based in Nigeria, where I would assume this video is shot, but the city they shot this in is not what excites me. This short visual experience is shot in a rural area on a train track with all members wearing purple gowns with gold stripes. Choir members are seen on the rocky railroad track, aboard the train cabin, and others are seen on the rocky background wearing tribal attire.

The choir members featured here are jubilant, dancing and singing with a wondrous bop. It’s no surprise given this video's beautiful landscape.

Train🚉, Bus🚍, Plane✈️ or Boat🛶, choose your means of Transportation let's go to 'Soweto'
