Today’s day and age is filled with so many artists who are destined to go somewhere. 2021 has proven no different, as a new wave of artists have taken the spotlight to attain socially valued spots such as a placement on XXL, or something else of similar value. However, at the end of the day, music isn’t the end all be all. Your artist personality, brand identity, and the way you carry yourself plays a huge role in the success you’ll find as an artist.
Meet Jminus, an artist who acts as a perfect example of what it means to have the right platform. Recently, Jminus released a track titled “Day by Day,” which is a significant improvement on his previous work. Marketed as a track for “misfits,” the sound doesn’t come across that way. The beat of the song is extremely well-produced, which makes this song much better than if it were created using an alternative melody. However if I were to give a bit of criticism of this piece, nothing about this track separates itself from the thousands of other songs that are released on a weekly basis. This does not mean that the track can't stand on its own though.
