East Harbor- Ghost (Track Review)

Written by Grayson Jones

Ghost by East Harbor blasts you back to the raw, chaotic energy of the 2012-2016 era, a time when punk was loud, unapologetic, and full of reckless abandon. From the first note, the track hits hard with its in-your-face attitude, as if the speakers are demanding your attention. The song perfectly captures the disorienting aftermath of a wild night out—drinks, parties, and all the hazy aftermath. The line “I just saw my ghost last night" cuts through with crude honesty, implying that the singer was so out of it they experienced something like an out-of-body moment, lost between the night’s chaos and their own mind.

What really stands out, though, is the unique twist East Harbor puts on the classic "ghost" metaphor. When the singer says "Even my ghost didn't want to fight", it’s a sharp, almost darkly humorous way of saying that they were too much of a wreck, too dangerous even for their own self. It’s as if their own destructive energy was so intense that even their ghost was like, "No thanks."

The beauty of this song lies in its minimal lyrics.  It’s fun, it's frantic, and it perfectly captures the rawness of a nostalgic, unforgettable moment. East Harbor nails that feeling of being caught in the spiral of a night that lingers long after the party’s over.
