BrandonLee Cierley- Open Door (Instrumental Review)

Written by Imani Wj Wright

Camaraderie:

noun. mutual trust and friendship among people who spend a lot of time together.

Have you ever had brunch al fresco? Picture your favorite breakfast dish, with a side of a perfectly matched beverage. Feel the breeze? See the sun shining off the water? Can you hear the giddy but subtle chatter surrounding you? Even within that bundle of bliss, BrandonLee Cierley’s ‘Open Door’ would be the highlight of that moment. The keys, hit-hats, and guitar have given me feelings of euphoria.

This level of musicianship is one of true professionals and it shows. The transitions from horn to guitar back to horn are outstanding. Dare i say classy? Excuse the colloquialism there. ‘Open Door’ is a piece that can run for hours and you’d never notice the same song was being played- it’s that well composed and seamless.
